BACKGROUND
Alva Guizar was born and raised in the Lower Yakima Valley and is a
graduate of Grandview High School. She is the daughter of
immigrants who have been farm workers for most of their lives and who
continue to reside in Grandview, Washington. She has three brothers
and one sister, three of whom live and work in the Lower Yakima
Valley. Through her parents and
siblings, she has learned the importance of hard work and education.
EDUCATION
Alva went on to complete her Associates of Arts degree at Yakima Valley
Community College and then obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Law and
Justice at Central Washington University in 2003. After working for
a law firm for four years, she decided to continue to pursue her goal of
becoming an attorney. She went on
to graduate from University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow, Idaho.
CURRENT IMMIGRATION PRACTICE
Alva recently joined the firm in 2010.
She is currently a member of the Washington State Bar Association,
the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the Latina/o Bar
Association of Washington. Alva
presently performs services in all areas of immigration law. She
assists individuals in obtaining Family-based visas, Student and other
visas. She also assists individuals who are in deportation
proceedings and those with criminal charges that might affect their
immigration status. Also, Alva is
fluent in Spanish.
In her spare time, Alva enjoys spending time with her husband and
two children, as well as with friends and family.
